Positions & Activities
My passion in life is to help others achieve their potential. Reflecting this passion, my activities in the community include:
- Teaching students and adults about the law and the legal profession;
- Helping individuals and organizations develop and grow;
- Promoting and demonstrating the use of facilitation and mediation and other dispute resolution methods to increase understanding, build consensus, and avoid and resolve disputes.
The Legal Community
In the legal and dispute resolution community, I have held a variety of leadership positions in the New York State Dispute Resolution Association and the Association for Conflict Resolution. Past positions also include serving as Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committees of the Suffolk County Bar Association. I have presented and organized many seminars, often on cutting-edge topics, such as internet law, intellectual property and dispute resolution and contributed many articles to The Suffolk Lawyer and other publications.
The Business Community
In the business community, I chaired the Suffolk County Women's Business Enterprise Coalition, a capacity building organization for women entrepreneurs and the Education Committee of the Long Island Women's Expo. I also speak about legal and business ethics issues at many business functions and seminars and write about these issues in my monthly e-newsletter,
Making the Connection.
Education and Training
Education and training are also two of the primary focuses of my community involvement. I have judged mediation and negotiation competitions at Touro, Hofstra, Cardozo and St. John's Law School and coached and judged high school moot court competitions.
